ACBS Overseas

September last year, Ptr. Arsenio S. Viernes the school’s former Administrator opened up Asia Institute for Biblical Studies Hong Kong (AIBS).
As the vision placed in the hearts of Ptr. Ver and Mama Linda continues to blossom, our God also continually provides every need. Ptr. Arsie and his wife Liberty went to Hong Kong empty handed being excited about how God is going to work through and for them. Monthly, they are receiving a stipend that supports them and Ptr. Eddie Canon residing there provided a place for them to stay. Really God has been so faithful. As of now, the first term of the school curriculum has been finished, accommodating 20 students and expecting more this second term. They are meeting every Sunday, doing their classes. All of his students are overseas Filipino workers that grab the opportunity of studying the Word of God at the same time. God has proven his undying faithfulness up to the fullest.
Up to this very moment we and AIBS are still in touch with each other working hand in hand on how the two can give and offer better services for the glory of God! Early week of January this year, Ptr. Ver and Mama Linda along with other faculty members are scheduled to visit AIBS Hong Kong. Let us continually pray for these ministries.

During the Sem Break!

Like most of the common schools, Asia Center for Biblical Studies practices Semester breaks. From the 24th of October up to the 9th of November, students went home to take a rest from the whole sem of studying and to splurge the Holidays with their families. And the silence once again sheltered the campus, seems like taking its rest as well.
On the other hand, the faculty and the Admin marked the calendar by having a day of unwinding, as we indulge ourselves at Villa Gregoria Nagcarlan, Laguna. Before dipping in to the cold water, we took our lunch and held a meeting for a while to gear ourselves for the coming sem, we scheduled the teachers subjects and talked about students’ performances.

And then after, we finally spent the whole time swimming, chatting, eating and play some games. We haven’t done this for a long time now, this also served as a welcome bash for Ptra. Joy Inawasan as the newest member of the faculty.
What a break!

ACBS to the rescue!

PRAYERS CAN DO A LOT of things, more than we could ever imagine. But this time the school also wanted to do something to reach out to those in great needs. Brgy. Umboy, Sta. Cruz, and Brgy. Conception, Lumban both in Laguna were just two of the many that were flooded due to the typhoons that just went through. With the great volume of rain water rushed down the Laguna Lake, both places sunk.

Last October 02, 2009 led by Leni P. Aycardo, one of our students, who lives in that place, along with the Students Body Organization (SBO), Mama Linda Jacinto, Dean Eliasar Jansol, helped by some other students visited those areas with relief goods gathered in two-week-time to provide the needs of the flood victims. The students didn’t mind the difficulty of going through that stinky and unpleasant water just to help.

Unlike last year, we went carolling to furnish groceries to our neighbours during Christmas seasons instead of them giving us any in return. This time we gathered enough used clothes, shoes, toys and contributed some to buy urgent necessities to meet these great needs.

Repairs on our landslide area!

We have witnessed how the typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng hit our country last year and how these damaged the environment, injured businesses, destroyed infrastructures and devastated lives, even claimed some.
Asia Center for Biblical Studies also experienced a landslide that could have brought the Administrator’s building down. Although we have already allotted the money at hand for some vital things, this first needs to be fixed. Therefore, the Administrators having not enough to finance the work showed the school’s situation to all concerned individuals that were willing and able to help in any way possible. E-mails, pictures through facebook were posted and the result was pleasing. Many have offered help even though the global crisis of recession is pulling many down. But the abundance of God’s provision, once again was proven.
The school hired men to do the job, helped by some of our stay-in students since the semestral break was on going by then. As of now, the work is almost done, the landslide full of mud before has been paved, and transformed into a flat wide area. It is also being fenced by metal pipes and bars for finishing. Ptr. Ver has plans of setting up three mini kubos to generate income in ways we’ll see in the near future.

We’re so thankful to everyone who had offered to help, in kinds, money, and even in prayers. This work can’t be done without your help. To see more of this project’s before and after please do visit our Facebook account, Asia Center for Biblical Studies.
